Publisher Description: This volume aims to provide a comprehensive analysis of the social and economic positions of recent Chinese immigrants and their children in four western developed countries: Australia, Britain, Canada and USA. It will be the first attempt to systematically compare the experiences of overseas Chinese across multiple destinations using quantitative survey data and standardised analysis, while controlling for the heterogeneity of the countries of origin. Such an approach will yield new insights into how social and economic conditions at destinations affect the adaptation of immigrants. |
