Contributor Bio(s): Scaggs, Deirdre A.: - Author Deirdre A. Scaggs has degrees in archival studies and photography. She currently serves as an archivist for the University of Kentucky in Lexington. As a child, Scaggs heard the phrase, Welcome to Kentucky, the land of fast horses and beautiful women. In this volume, she endeavors to demonstrate that the role of women in Lexington was and continues to be much more significant than that slogan suggests.
