Publisher Description: When a mighty, magical force sweeps Amber and Trevor into the past, they relive historical events and soon learn more about the little-known Buffalo Soldiers than any history book could teach. The 9th and 10th cavalry and 24th and 25th infantry regiments were African American soldiers nicknamed Buffalo Soldiers by the Native Americans they encountered. The plot is based on history: In September of 1867 in northern Colorado, Captain Lewis H. Carpenter and his H Company of Buffalo Soldiers rescued Major George A. Forsythe's regiment, who were pinned down by the Cheyenne, Lakota, and Arapahoe. Trevor and Amber accompany the soldiers on this mission and are afforded a close-up and personal view of their lives and learn firsthand of their dedication, valor, and discipline.
Ms. Lynch is currently working on the second book in the series, in which Amber and Trevor take a flight through history and visit the Tuskegee Airmen. |
