Publisher Description:

This is the second issue of SoJourn, a journal dedicated to publishing articles describing the history, culture, and geography of South Jersey--the eight southernmost counties of New Jersey. This issue reaches back to the eighteenth century, albeit through discussion of a mid-nineteenth century novel, and stretches forward to the summer of 2016, describing a day spent with a Leeds Point crabber. Essays touch upon local industries--sawmills, fishing, crabbing and fruitpicking--upon art--architecture, literature and, again, fruitpicking--and also upon notable citizens--Margaret Mead, the Rev. Jeremiah H. Pierce, and four generations of Butcher MDs.
