Publisher Description: Harry Alverson Franck (1881-1962) was an American vagabond. He was born in Munger, Michigan. In 1903 he graduated from the University of Michigan. In 1915 he travelled in Mexico and in 1916 he described his experience there in a book entitled Tramping Through Mexico, Guatemala and Honduras: Being the Random Notes of an Incurable Vagabond. He also travelled to such places as Germany, the West Indies, China, Siam, Greece, Alaska and Scandinavia. He wrote about 33 travel books including: A Vagabond Journey Around the World (1910), Three Hoboes in India (1910), Four Months Afoot in Spain (1911), Zone Policeman 88: A Close Range Study of the Panama Canal and its Workers (1913), Vagabonding Down the Andes (1917), Working My Way Around the World (1918), Roaming Through the West Indies (1920), Working North From Patagonia (1921) and Wandering in Northern China (1923). |
