Publisher Description: The information in this book has been collected and compiled by Jacilee Wray, anthropologist at Olympic National Park. Included here are excerpts from interviews with several long-time residents of San Juan Island who have specific knowledge about the Salmon Bank off of South Beach at San Juan Island National Historical Park. Archival research was also conducted at the Center for Pacific Northwest Studies in Bellingham, as well as collecting and reviewing published accounts, and locating and scanning historic photos. This information has been compiled so that park staff can understand the cultural importance of the Salmon Bank and identify further research. |
