Publisher Description:
Jesse was born with almost every disadvantage possible. His brain had genetic defects, his mother abhorred him, his father abandoned him. But don't feel sorry for Jesse-he can take care of himself. Many times this meant eliminating anyone who got in his way. Starting with his mother. By the time he reached adulthood, he was a street-wise murderer. When he was finally arrested and imprisoned, he vowed to exact revenge on Paul, the FBI agent who arrested him and testified in court. However, his finest weapon, fear, did not work on Paul. He decided that when he escaped from prison, he would destroy the only person who mattered to Paul-his nine-year old daughter, Dassie. This is a dark tale of evil, madness and terror. Is Paul's love for Dassie enough to defeat Jesse's designs on the innocent girl? Paul has his doubts, even with the unconditional support of his partner, FBI agent Sharon Brandon. This psychological thriller, though filled with violent behavior almost beyond imagining. As fantastic as the premise is, the science of the brain makes the story all too plausible. Jesse has genetic defects, a complete lack of childhood nurturing, and a personality which is marked by a complete disregard for basic rights of other human beings. His story, while fiction, has been repeated all too many times in real life.
