Publisher Description:
This story, in rhyme, is about two Africa Spur-thighed Sulcata tortoises, Shell and Lily. They were rescued as young tortoises, and came to live at the Williams house where they were loved by everyone, including the neighbors who would find them walking down the sidewalk, and even the mailmen who would rescue them as they wandered. As they continued to grow, it was obvious that they would need bigger accommodations and a warmer climate. It was a tough decision to set them free, as they were loved very much. And so their journey continues at the Makauwahi Cave Reserve on the Island of Kaua'i where they can live in a perfect climate, dine on all sorts of natural vegetation, be in contact with humans as they are so friendly and social, and help to preserve the native plants by eating the invasive weeds. Fortunately, the Williams family can volunteer at the Reserve and visit their beloved tortoises.
