| Publisher Description: Wound healing still remains a major problem in surgical practice, because of our inability to accelerate the process of healing. Abscesses are an extremely common problem in surgical clinics of India. Incision and draining along with systemic and local antibiotics are necessary elements of treatment of these abscess cavities. However some cavities are reluctant and slow to heal and lead to prolonged morbidity. Although it has been known for about 50 years that phenytoin can accelerates wound healing, very few authentic documentation of utility of phenytoin in wound healing as a standard procedure is available. Therefore the present study is conducted to evaluate the role of phenytoin in healing of abscess cavities. |
