The objective thereby is a more consistent positioning of an author who for a long time remained at the periphery of academic interest. On the basis of the re-evaluation of New Objectivity, Fallada's associations with modern literature between Expressionism and New Objectivity are not only touched upon but made the main focus of the analysis.
