Publisher Description:
The November issue starts with a feature on Norwegian and Danish Architects with projects that demonstrate their approach towards designing with nature. Through conversations with local architects and writers, sustainability concerns specific to the region such as receding glaciers are discussed. Despite these challenging conditions, their people continue to pride themselves on their community spirit, creating architecture that is responsive and cities that are inclusive and livable. The second feature is on the former Keretapi Tanah Melayu Railway Line. Connecting Singapore with Malaysia to the north and at the south, it terminated near the edge of the Central Business District. In 2015, the "Rail Corridor - An Inspired and Extraordinary Community Space" Request for Proposal was initiated. By inviting design professionals, the hope is to establish a range of design strategies. These will in turn integrate with the surrounding communities, improve public accessibility, and help shape the quality of the experience along the Corridor. Text in English and Japanese. a+u - Architecture and Urbanism - is a monthly architectural magazine established in 1971 that highlights the work and activities of top contemporary architects from around the world. a+u features architecture and a broad range of other new design sources in a well-presented format.
