Publisher Description:
What is the significance of God creating through evolution? While it does not specifically have claims in the existence of God, it certainly impacts the image of humanity in relation to God. Either we were shaped directly by the hands of God or were forged in the factory of nature. If we are products of evolution, then there is a heritage within our bodies that is a reflection of that within every other organism. Evolution operates under a certain set of rules, and being born of this process means we are inclined to operate according to these rules. But what bearing does this have on a Christian belief in God? What is the significance of being inclined to live a certain way when God has made it clear our ultimate objective should be a relationship with Him. There are two purposes set before us: one that is intrinsic to evolution, the other that is instilled by God. Upon examination, it is noticed that these inclinations are in conflict with each other, which should be deeply troubling. Why would God destine for us to be programmed to do the opposite of what He desires for us? This is the central problem for understanding Christianity from an evolutionary foundation. The heritage of evolution causes us to be predisposed to disobey God's commands. What does this mean for the sinful nature and salvation through grace?
