Contributor Bio(s): Perkins, Joanne: - Joanne Perkins is a paediatric anaesthetist and paediatric intensive care consultant working in the Evelina London Children's Hospital. While training in Ireland, she developed an interest in paediatric intensive care and came to Evelina to complete a post CST fellowship. It was during this time that she met Jo Davies. Children in Intensive Care has spent a lot of time in Joanne's back pocket and she found it an invaluable guide for anyone working in PICU. Therefore, she was delighted to be asked to help with the third edition. Joanne was appointed a consultant at the Evelina two years ago. She has an MSc and has published research on vascular physiology. Joanne also has a diploma in intensive care medicine. The areas in PICU which Joanne has special interest in include Long-Term Ventilation, palliative care and education. Joanne is involved in teaching medical students, nurses and doctors of all levels. Ideas for the new edition have come from these sessions as well as notes written in her own, much used, copy of the book. |
