Annotation: Starting with Mr. Morris' contention that "ninety-five percent of our talent comes from the unconscious, " this book addresses that hidden reservoir of feelings and experiences. Through a study of the unconscious, the actor is led toward "the state at which the actor crosses the line between consciousness and the unconscious to reach and feed from this bottomless well of creativity."

Publisher Description:
Acting from the Ultimate Consciousness is Eric Morris's fourth popular book on the art of acting. His previous works have established him among the foremost innovators in the world of drama. His system, based on the Stanislavsky method but going far beyond it, begins with an exploration of consciousness and the instrumental needs of the actor and expands to dozens of practical techniques that enable the actor to utilize the full range of his talent. With complete sections on characterization, rehearsing and ensemble, this is a book that all stage or screen actors--beginning to advanced--should read, absorb and practice.

Contributor Bio(s): Morris, Eric: - Eric Morris is one of the most controversial and exciting acting coaches in the history of American theater. With his unique approach to acting from a BEING place, he is revolutionizing the concept of performance. Eric Morris began his involvement in theater at Northwestern University, where he graduated with a degree in Dramatic Arts. His acting career of over one hundred Equity plays, twenty major motion pictures, fifty network television episodes, and running roles on two syndicated TV series led him on a search for new and workable acting techniques. His inherent passion for truth has resulted in the development of a process of work that is very specific in exploring the origins of individual talent and that encourages each actor's unique statement. Eric Morris lives and teaches in Los Angeles but also travels regularly to New York and other cities around the country to conduct workshops. He has founded the American New Theater, a company of bi-coastal actors who have a common approach to acting and a common goal of carrying that approach into theater and film.
