Publisher Description:

With the rise of Mussolini, and his entry into World War II alongside Hitler, San Francisco's North Beach splits into warring factions. In this fractured community--made worse by the branding of Italian immigrants as 'enemy aliens'--Paolo and Anita try to carry on their romance. How they do this forms the central action and symbolic drama of Suspect Love.
