She lives on a Southern Maryland farm with her husband, cat, rare Jersey Buff turkeys, and heritage chickens. They raise much of their own food. He studied monkeys in college, majoring in, among other things, anthropology at Brooklyn College and the University of Wisconsin. Eventually he went to seminary to become a pastor.
