Publisher Description:

Dot Kelly loves post-punk music and hates the suburbs. She's looking for something, and until she finds it, she'll never stop having that dream about Major Tom's capsule. Armed with her prized possession (a seven-inch single called 'London Calling'), a best friend who teaches her how to smoke and a brother who gatecrashes her first date, Dot might just stumble upon what she's looking for.

Follow Dot on her slightly awkward journey navigating the popular culture of the 80s, 90s, noughties and today.

Contributor Bio(s): Scurry, Nichola: - Nichola Scurry is a proud and cynical member of Generation X who was born in England and grew up in Australia. She majored in English Literature at Monash University and has been writing stories since childhood. Nichola has lived in London and Barcelona, but Melbourne is her current home. With the Music is Nichola's first novel. You can visit her at www.scurry.com.auSexton, Lu: - I came to editing the long way round via theatre, street music and clown, community arts and events. The through line of my career is creative collaboration, which is my favourite way of working. I have been freelancing since 2010, editing everything from short stories to epic page-turners, policy documents to information guides. I also have three years' experience in-house editing for local government, where I refined the delicate arts of jargon-busting, translating bureauspeak and untangling multi-authored documents that have got themselves into a knot. I teach short courses in copy editing and proofreading for RMIT.Byrne, Fiona: - I am a graphic designer and typesetter with strong project management skills having 13 years experience in the educational publishing industry. I have designed and typeset research reports for international organisations, educational textbooks for Australian Primary, Secondary, Tertiary, and English Language Teaching (ELT) educational markets, as well as interface design for companion digital resources. I also have experience designing marketing flyers, brochures, catalogues, packaging and small and large format finished artwork projects. Utilising project management skills I have managed external freelance designers and illustrators, as well as managing the project design of single to 84 title series, maintaining company and project specific style guides, consistency and quality.
