Publisher Description:
I believe that The LORD wants His people to recognize the power of His WORD as found in The Bible as well as our own words that we speak each day. His scripture tells us that we "do not live by bread only, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of the LORD doth man live." We have the resource of our Bible to teach us to speak words correctly. When we speak weakness, sickness, and trouble over ourselves, we give those things an open door. When we speak life, healing, wellness, and positive outcomes over ourselves, we give good things access. God's word teaches us, "For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned." God's WORD has been compared to a sword, fire, gold, a hammer, a mirror, and a lamp. Lottie's thoughts of illness began in her mind. We are told to "take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ." God's word, like a sword, slays negative thinking before it takes hold. His word is also like fire. Fire purifies. It cleans off all of the dirt and grime. It lets the beauty shine and kills the rotten and the ugly. As stated, "Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you." Psalms reads, "Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path." It is through study and application of His word that we find the good path. We get instruction and wisdom from the lamp of His word. It guides us through darkness and fear. It illuminates. His word is a hammer which breaks those rocks that appear to be unmovable, unshakeable, and unbearable. We can believe Him when He says, "I will take sickness away from the midst of thee." We are told that the words of God are more desired than any gold. Gold shines and represents the glory of God. Gold is the evidence that God is at work. As we are reminded, "When thou has eaten and art full, then though shalt bless the LORD thy God for the good land which he hath given thee . . . and when thy herds and thy flocks multiply, and thy silver and thy gold is multiplied, and all that thou hast is multiplied." Further, God's word is like a mirror. When we "look into it" then we will "be blessed."9 When we behold "as in a glass the glory of the Lord," then we "are changed into the same image from glory to glory." 10 Daily reading of God's word will cause us to reflect His glory into the world in which we live. There is great power in the words that God has equipped us to speak for they have come through Jesus and share His strength. Our savior, Jesus, spoke words over the sick and they were healed. He spoke words over the lame and they leaped for joy. He spoke words over the blind and they gained sight. As the scripture says, "for his word was with power." When we talk about The WORD, we are talking about Jesus. "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God." Jesus is The Healer. Speaking of Jesus, Isaiah says, "and with his stripes we are healed." Throughout His ministry, "great multitudes came together to hear; and to be healed by him of their infirmities." When He was preparing to leave the earth and return to Heaven, Jesus gave the commission to, "Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature." He told them that they would be able to "lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover." We see an example of this happening in Acts when the "Peter said unto him, Aeneas, Jesus Christ maketh thee whole: arise, and make thy bed. And he arose immediately." Not only is Jesus, The WORD which delivers healing, He is The WORD which gives eternal life. Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth and the life." From early times, God has told us to "choose life, obey His voice, for He is thy life, and the length of thy days." We are reminded in the Psalms, that "He sent His word, and healed them."
