US 71 (north-south), the original route of "The Jefferson Highway" and the famous Route 66 (east-west), "The Mother Road", intersected at Central & Garrison in Carthage, Missouri Many travelers passed through our wonderful city. Carl Taylor, well-known local photographer, took tens of thousands of photographs from 1955 to the mid 1970s. Mr. Taylor captured the people, events and buildings of the day.
