| Publisher Description: The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) is providing $400,000 to help Albania further integrate into the European Union regional electricity market, and improve the efficiency and security of its energy supply, which comes primarily from renewable energy sources. This will enable Albania to export more renewable hydropower and wind energy to other countries, thus increasing regional access to clean energy. The program also is helping the government of Albania to develop and implement secondary energy legislation and tariff reforms and to strengthen the institutional capacity of its energy regulator and transmission system operator. These activities will increase transparency and public access to information, support the development of social safety net and low-income energy assistance programs, and help lower greenhouse gas emissions in the region. |
