Publisher Description: Our uncle, Trescott Abele 1901-95, was town moderator for 49 years for a small town in Massachusetts. In addition he was a high school principal, a math and history teacher, and a master chess player. He missed his 90th birthday party because he was leading a white water canoeing expedition, In 1982 Trescott wrote and self-published this brief 60-page book on the purpose of government and the ramifications of democracy. Only a handful of copies were printed. The attraction to this book is the depth and objectivity of his analysis, particularly as it is applicable to the current political situation. One individual's comment: ". . .the best piece of political and economic commentary I have read in years." It was because of applicability to the current political situation that Trescott's relatives decided to republish. |
