Publisher Description:

We usually think of the champions of the Bible like David and Solomon and focus on their faith in God, but they also share something just as important - they failed God often. As it turns out, most of the biblical characters were a mix of strengths and weaknesses. Most people don't realize that David and Solomon, whom we hold up as "champion saints," were men who struggled in life just like you and me? God could have chosen to keep the failures of these men unrecorded, but then we would never have been able to appreciate the working of God's grace in their lives. So, instead of just giving us the Psalms, God gave us first and second Samuel too, which lays out the humanity and failures of the Psalmist David. He could have just given us the great wisdom of Proverbs, but instead we also have 1 Kings and in there we find out that the wisest man in the world strayed so far from God that he didn't even follow his own advice

I wrote this book to look at the lives of David and Solomon in a way that will help us see that even though their relationship with God became disconnected at times, His grace never let go of the special relationship they had with Him. This book takes a realistic journey through some of the most puzzling events of the lives of David, Solomon and their families in order to better prepare us to handle the temptations they faced and better understand the depth of God's grace when we fail.
