All then come together in the final climactic scene of violence. The criminal antagonists in this book are realistically depicted as depraved individuals whose criminal careers are abetted by an ineffectual justice system that negates the hard work of its own police forces. The book makes a strong argument for individual courage and existential decisions for self-defense, both against criminals and a justice system that fails its citizens while loudly claiming to "have its faults but still be the best in the world." |
