She is a member of the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators. Louie Finds a Friend is her latest book illustrated for 4RV Publishing. She began in Texas and graduated from high school in Limestone, Maine, with stops at places like Guam and Morocco in between. After her marriage and her three children were in school, she returned to college, earning a double degree in English and in Speech. She taught for nearly 30 years before retiring and writing full-time. At present, Vivian has another eleven books to her credit, two co-authored. Her books include Prairie Dog Cowboy (written under the name V. Gilbert Zabel), Stolen, and Midnight Hours (written under the name Vivian Gilbert Zabel). In 2013, I Like Pink, a concept book to help children learn basic colors and shades, was released. Since then, the book won two major awards: a Silver Seal from Children's Literary Classics and chosen as one of the 15 for the KART Books for Children Readers list.
