In March 1974, the Japanese Foreign Ministry spokesman said Japan has asked the Thai government to establish a joint committee to address the problems posed by Japanese investments in Thailand. In October 1975, the Prime Minister of Thailand, Kukrit Pramoj criticized Japan for investing in Thailand due to cheap labor in the country. The Thai government sees it as a wrong investment motive.
