Publisher Description:
Until now, loans have not been examined in great detail in comparative legal literature. A look at the exhibition practices of museums at home and abroad, and the lending of sometimes invaluable art treasures, however, shows that it is worthwhile to pay greater attention to this issue. The present volume closes that gap by giving a systematic presentation of the basic principles of loans, the ensuing obligations and the liability of the parties to loan agreements in the French, English and German legal systems. It focuses especially on art loans and the specific contractual arrangements for lending art objects. To this end, the author examines and evaluates standard loan agreements of the major museums in France, England and Germany. In this respect, the volume not only makes a valuable contribution to comparative legal studies, but is at the same time a practical guidebook for the administration of loans by museums. German text.
