Rinconete y cortadillo is one of the twelves stories included in Novelas ejemplares by Cervantes. Two young men, Pedro del Rincon and Diego Cortado, begin a friendship in a shop on the road from Toledo to Cordoba. Both have left their parents' homes, and there decide to accompany some travelers to Seville. In that city they enter in the world of poverty. In order to survive, they are presented before Monipodio, boss of a band of thieves, who makes them live in his great house, change their names, and form part of a picturesque band of criminals.

Dos j venes, Pedro del Rinc n y Diego Cortado, entablan amistad en una venta en el camino de Toledo a C rdoba. Ambos han dejado las casas paternas, y all deciden acompa ar a unos viajeros a Sevilla. En dicha ciudad entran en el mundo de los bajos fondos. Para sobrevivir se presentan ante Monipodio, jefe de un gremio de ladrones, quien los hace vivir en su gran casa, cambiar de nombres y formar parte de una pintoresca banda de criminales.
