Publisher Description: The American Evangelical-Pentecostal Elephant in the Room is an expos of Christian Zionism and its unorthodox dispensational theology that have historically influenced the community. The book focuses on a neglected Judaism-gospel conflict in both Jesus and the apostles' ministries in the New Testament. The gospel story of Jesus and the early church's conflict with a corrupt Judaism is a mirror image of Christian Zionism's influence in the Christian community today. There IS a crucial conflict narrative that permeates the NT, but it has become an "elephant in the room" today due to the excessive Israel-influence in Christian Zionism. Jesus' gospel has been replaced with a "Jewish myth" (Christian Zionism) in the minds of Christians, leaving them with a "Pollyanna view" of the first-century church which in fact suffered epic conflict. The neglect of the conflict narrative is equivalent to neglecting the NT itself; no Christian community can withstand this. Christians must return to the vital NT Judaism-gospel conflict story, in order to restore an authentic Christian witness to a new generation of Americans which are in dire need of one. |
