Publisher Description:
The story of a 9 year-old girl named Sarah. She and her family go through the worst storm to hit the United States. Sarah is shy, self-conscious and feels inadequate. She relies on her best friend Sammy for support and encouragement. She loves her mom but questions their relationship. As the story progresses, she realizes the truth. As well as dealing with the trials that school girls face, there is an undercurrent of a hurricane building in the Gulf of Mexico. The story is set in Bay St. Louis, Mississippi five days leading up to the Hurricane, as Katrina hits the Coast and a several days after the storm. Both girls evacuate with their families, but only one returns to their home. She loses her beautiful room, many of her favorite things, her school, and even her best friend for awhile. Although she and her family lose everything they couldn't take with them, they never lose their faith or their love for each other. 3057characters left
