Publisher Description: A Lay Cistercian reflects on how to see Jesus while seeking God each day. You have probably never heard of the late George Unglaub. The Holy Spirit shepherded me to meet him about five years ago. At that time, George was 81 years old, retired, and a recent convert to Catholicism. As I soon found out, George did not suffer fools gladly. He called them like he saw them and had that unique ability to zero in on what was important. George was not a theologian, nor even what you would consider a leader in Good Shepherd's faith community. He was a passionate man about one thing-seeing Jesus. This is all the more astonishing because George was quite a rascal throughout his whole life, up to and including his conversion to Christ. He would tell anyone who would listen how he searched and searched for Jesus for years and then wanted to belong to someplace where he could go to Church every day to see Jesus. One day, he ended up in the chapel of Good Shepherd Church in Tallahassee, Florida, having what I would call a St. Paul=like conversion while there. He saw Jesus for the first time. Each time after that, he would attend Eucharist daily. He could see and hear Jesus talking to him; he was passionate about it to the point where we would stop briefly after Eucharist and have Moments With Michael. |
