Publisher Description: This is a short skit about a family that comes, in two separate moves, to a strange, ominous, and disturbing farm town after receiving such a compelling offer, that they could not in good conscience refuse. It takes place in the not-too-distant future in a very small, rural ghost town. There are many ancient, decrepit farmhouses that are seemingly empty surrounding a tiny, dilapidated Main Street. The men come in early spring. They end up finding some disturbing things, and a strange, all-knowing cook who feeds them more than food. The women come in early summer "when all danger of frost is past" and are disturbed to find a deserted farmhouse. In the last scene, all is revealed. The strange humming, the question of "why us?" regarding the compelling offer, the missing townsfolk, and the truth about the Narrator/Cook/Al. |
