Publisher Description:
Lydia was living with her single mother in a very difficult condition. Her mother was diagnosed with cancer that was progressing and was told she had six months or less to live. And then Lydia saw an opportunity. There was an announcement in her school bulletin board about a singing contest. It was her greatest hope that being a part of this could change her family's life, especially when it came to the treatments her mother desperately needed. Despair, however, had replaced her dream due to her inability of coping with the fast-paced circumstances that surrounded her life. She was overwhelmed and barely made it to the state contest, which was the second step before nationals-the final step of the contest.Weeks had passed since the two inseparable childhood friends, Lydia and Abigail had met, making it unbearable to Lydia. Besides their occasional arguments, the girls had never stayed apart for too long. But this summer was different. Lydia's stressful day had come to an end. She crossed the road and walked to the bus stop, ready to go home. As Lydia waited for the next bus to arrive, she checked her phone, but then she looked up when she heard footsteps. It was a homeless man who had asked her if she had a quarter to spare. She reached into her purse and gave him a dollar instead. This made the man very happy. He handed her a small pamphlet. Lydia wondered why the man in need wanted to give her something in return. But she didn't want to turn him down, so she thanked him. Her Gaze, however, was fixed on the cover. The title The Sacrificed Lamb was written above a picture of a lamb in bold letter. Lydia read nonstop until she reached her destination. The quote the homeless man shouted at her as she walked to her arriving bus echoed in her thoughts as well-John 3:16. Feeling deeply convicted, Lydia was willing to give the Lord a chance. When Lydia arrived at her house, she headed straight for the bookshelf located in the living room. After staring at the forgotten book covered in dust, she reached for it and then wiped it off with her hand. An elegant font, inscribed in gold revealed the title Holy Bible.
