He has been the Craig Dobbin Professor of Canadian Studies at the University College Dublin and the Chancellor's Chair for Research Excellence at Brock University. He is the author of Avant-Garde Canadian Literature: The Early Manifestations and editor (or co-editor) of nine volumes of experimental Canadian writing.
