Smith, Elwood White's collaborator on Wings Across the Water: Victoria's Flying Heritage, was a professor of classics at the University of Victoria for many years. In addition to scholarly publications, he has written a history of the University of Victoria and is co-author of Ghosts on the Grade: Hiking and Biking Abandoned Railways on Southern Vancouver Island.White, Elwood: - Elwood White is a well-known expert on the history of Vancouver Island transportation. Co-author of Shays on the Switchback he has also written a wide variety of journal articles. A licensed pilot, he has been photographing and observing the local aviation scene since 1928. This book is based largely on his outstanding photographic collection. |
